Notice of regular communication of St. Alban's Lodge No. 6 will be held at 363 Hope Street, Bristol RI 02809.
Tuesday, 13th, 7:00 PM
The program for the evening will be Worshipful Brother/Senior Warden Andy Benn and the different cultures and traditions of various lodges. This should be informative and interesting, especially for those of you who wish to travel more this year!
Greetings Brethren,
I can’t express the pride and honor I feel to be back in the East. Like I mentioned that night, my goal is to pick up where Worshipful Brother Hopkins left off and keep our lodge moving in the direction we are in. We have a beautiful building with a ton of potential thanks to the brothers of SAL6 and now our membership just got stronger with 4 new Master Masons who are already having such a positive effect on our institution. I look forward to seeing them grow as Men and Masons.
Since our Annual, a few of us have attended St Paul’s installation and during their annual, I heard something that resonated with me. The Master was giving his Masters report and he was thanking his line of officers because “it takes a village to make a lodge successful.” He’s right, if it weren’t for the Bob Hopkins, The Danny Corderios, The Bill Stephens, Tuffys, Hamner’s, Pray’s, Dasilva’s, Nystrom’s, Gios, Benns, and every other past master that I didn’t mention, SAL6 wouldn’t be where it is today. So it’s up to us, this line of officers and those Brothers on the sidelines to make our village thrive.
We have a lot of new and young Brothers making their way through the line now but with young Members come young families. We mustn’t lose the support of the ones who make being a Mason possible. Our families. It’s also important to instill a positive environment at the lodge so our children remember all the great memories we can make as Masons. With that being said, a topic for discussion in February will be our rehearsals. I would like to see our rehearsals go to 2x a month, every month. Whether it be a degree rehearsal or just opening, closing, and floor work, I’d like to meet regardless.
BUT the first rehearsal of the month I’d like to make a Family Lodge Night. We can discuss specifics but essentially, pick a date and time. Say 6 pm on the First Thursday of the Month we show up with families. Members will go upstairs and practice for one hour and our families can mingle and enjoy each other's company on the 2nd floor. Our children can play in a safe environment and strengthen that family bond we all have. After the rehearsal is done, we go downstairs where we will have pizza and game night. I believe this will help alleviate the “being away from home” issues we run into as Masons. This will hopefully make our families feel included and become a more vital part of our lodge. I don’t mean to ramble, but I am excited about this idea and I look forward to discussing it more in a few weeks.
This leads me to my last note, sorry for the long message, I promise they won’t all be this long.
Reminder!!!! Our February Meeting will be on the 13th, Tuesday before our normal Wednesday night.
Fraternally,
Manuel J. Benevides
Our home, St. Alban's Lodge, though modest in size, embodies the essence of strength and unity, much like the spirit captured in William Shakespeare's words from "A Midsummer Night's Dream": "Though she be but little, she is fierce!" This profound statement resonates deeply with us, as we may be among the smallest lodges in membership within the State, yet our achievements speak volumes of our commitment and camaraderie.
Our lodge's strength lies not just in numbers, but in the quality of our bonds. These bonds are not limited to our walls alone but extend to our brethren across the East Bay District, fostering a sense of brotherhood that transcends geographical boundaries.
Our endeavor to nurture these connections is continuous. Recently, several members gathered at Brother Giovannini's home for an evening that epitomized brotherhood, with the added joy of hosting a group of brothers from the East Bay District. Such gatherings are the cornerstone of our lodge, reinforcing our bonds and allowing us to grow not just as masons, but as friends and individuals.
Moreover, we honor traditions that bind us to our past and each other, like our small yet significant celebration of Robert Burns at Brother Nystom's residence. These traditions are not just rituals; they are a reflection of our collective spirit and the values we cherish.
Looking ahead, there's a sense of excitement for what the future holds. St. Alban's Lodge may be small in number, but our spirit, dedication, and the sense of unity we share make us mighty. We eagerly anticipate the journey ahead, continuing to build upon the strong foundation we have laid together.
I look forward to the year ahead of us and how each of us will be better friends, brothers, fathers, partners, etc.
Yours in the craft,
Danny Cordeiro
